An Eagle Named Freedom, My True Story of A Remarkable Friendship by Jeff GuidryThis is an Early Reviewer selection and as an animal lover, this one touches my heart in so many ways. I'm really enjoying it.
I finished last week:
Original Sins, A Novel of Slavery and Freedom, by Peg KingmanThis is an engaging historical fiction that takes place in the 1840's. The woman heroine Grace Pollacke is a portrait miniature painter, strong, intelligent and definitely not your typical 19th century female. Don't miss this one.
I think I will be reading:
Power of a Woman, by Robert Fripp. After reading The Captive Queen, by Alison Weir, I was contacted by the author of Power of a Woman, Memoirs of a Turbulent Life: Eleanor of Aquitaine. Reviews have been terrific and I'm anxious to read this one. I can't wait to share it. :)* Stay tuned for my upcoming giveaway of three copies of this book.

Hi Wisteria--I looked for an email address but couldn't find one, so forgive the response to your comment here. I just got your comment on the old blog and wanted to say thank you. Blogging is tough and time consuming but it can also be a joy. I'm still blogging about books on the new blog but on a smaller scale. I needed to take the pressure off of myself as we're halfway through the year I couldn't even tell you how many books I've read with certainty--maybe a dozen?? Not much material for a book blogger! :)
I'm sorry you've been feeling pressures--whether external to blogging or internal--and hope you can find some comfort. For me it was taking the pressure off myself to not be the star commenter that I once was. And this is tough because I've lost popularity because of it (and honestly wish I could comment more) but I don't feel as much guilt either.
On another note, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog Webster. We're going through a similar issue with our lab who has torn her ACL and the surgery is chancy--we've considered removing her leg but I just can't bear the thought of it. I know it isn't much comfort, but I hope that your Webster is now running around doggy heaven with joy.
