Sunday Salon--July 19, 2009

The Sunday Salon.com

Happy Sunday Salon to everyone! Saturday as mentioned, with the help of my energetic sister, we finished painting my dining room and one wall of my living room. This will sound weird, but one more wall will be the same color and then the others will be a different color. No, I'm not telling you yet. But, I will show you a pic when done. For now, here are some works in process. Obviously, the furniture is a pit out of place. Notice some of my bookcases...tee hee. My dogs tried to help, but as you can see at the end of the day they had had enough.

What do you think of the new paint color?

Reading this week:

Still finishing up American Lion, about Andrew Jackson. The author Jon Meacham won a Pulitzer for his incredibly written biography. (Review to follow). I'm spending a lot of time with this lengthy history taking copious notes for a paper I am doing on it.

Reading for the First Look program at Barnes and Noble: Under This Unbroken Sky by Shandi Mitchell. An awwesome read so far! The historical fiction book takes place in 1938 about a farming family from the Ukraniane who immigrate to Canada. I'm hooked on this one too.

Lastly, a little light reading...Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Somewhat disappointing start and I loved the Dragon Rider series. I haven't given up hope. It is about my favorite subject...books, so how bad could it be?

Hope everyone enjoys the great weather....at least in the Northeast. How about where you live? Watcha doing today? Please don't forget to tell me what you think of my painting? Ta ta for now.....

I love the color. I'd love to do a feature wall in that color in the house. What a great pic of your dog! lol.

I am hoping to use a similar colour in the bedroom, but only on one wall, as I don't want it to affect my need for sleep. I love it! I am sorry to hear you are not enjoying Inkheart. I really enjoyed that one. I have Dragon Rider waiting to be read.

Dar....I have the dining the same color and then the lead wall from the dining are the same. It makes everything look bigger. Yeah...Lion had enough painting for one day. He is still sleeping at 7:30PM Sunday.
ScrapGirl...Thanks...I am loving the color. Inkheart is good, what bothers me is some of the overkill on the descriptions and metaphors. They seem forced.
Donura...It is great on the eyes.
Lezlie..Thanks for your opinion. I hope everyone likes it, because it took my sister and I three coats.

I see we were both painting this weekend :)

I love the colors. I can't wait until we have a house and we can actually decorate to our tastes!

wow, I love the color you chose. oh my gosh, i'm painting my computer room this week and I chose to do something similar. I chose 2 colors for the room. And one of the colors is a reddish one like the one you have there. I'll post pics at my blog too :)

your pup is too cute sleeping.

I absolutely love it! Red is such a great color, most would maybe not dare to tempt, but at least a hallway would I love to have red one day

I love the red! Sometimes red can be a little too much--wait, what am I saying? Red's my favorite color! Looks lovely.

What a passionate colour! Love it.

I also share the same view about INKHEART but still would continue on with the rest of the books in the series. I've just bought INKDEATH today.
