2009 Book Buddy Blogger Challenge

I'm going to try and host my first challenge as we head into 2009. It will be called Book Buddy Blogger Challenge 2009.

Rules: The challenge will run all of 2009. You will be required to read 5 books from a list of 10 that are recommended by a book blogger buddy. The books should be from their list of best books from 2008. It's that easy. Then let us know what you think of your friend's choices. Do you agree or disagree and why?

Post Your Five Book Choices with Your Comments.

Haven't you always wanted to read books that your blogger friends rave about? Now is your chance. Look up those reviews, ask your buddies for a list and pick five for 2009! Then go to Mr. Linky and sign up. I'm hoping I did the Mr. Linky part right.

There are a couple of graphics to use for now. One is of my dog "Wizard" with his favorite book Waggit's Tale by Peter Howe. The other is just a simple graphic that I'm working on. See posts coming up. Good Luck!!

Giveaways: Last Chance Today

....Drawing at Midnight with posting tomorrow!
Someone will win the handmade grey crocheted scarf, or one of the many book raffles.
Happy New Year Week Everyone!!! Don't forget to leave comments for those chances to win.

wizard is so cute.
this sounds like a fun challenge. do the books all have to be from one blogger? or can we pick 5 books from different bloggers favs?

Hi Naida...Wizard thanks you!!!
You can get recommendations from any blogger's favorites. That's what makes this so cool. I hope you take up the challenge. :-)

I love that picture of your dog!

I will have to look around at other folk's best of 2008 list to see about the challenge. Sounds like a good challenge idea!

I'm taking up the challenge! Now I just have to get some recommendations!

Happy to hear you are joining N. Vasillis post a list when you know what you decide. Don't forget to sign up with Mr. Linky too. Should be fun.

I signed it, sounds interesting. Now I have to wait and see what my buddies recommend for me :)

I also linked to my post of the challenge..

BTW do my friends have to post there recommends on my blog or could they recommend it on another site for example since I'm a member there and would be easier to ask around :)

Great DeSeRtRoSe glad you signed up!
No, your friends don't have to post on your blog. You should post what books you will read and who recommended them. Send the list to this same post when you get it together. Easy:-) I think it's a great way to read what our buddy's have been blogging about.

This sounds like a great challenge! My list is from best of the year posts, or recent posts raving about certain books - is that okay? I wanted to get my list made, but lots of people haven't done a "best of" post yet....

Thanks for hosting this!

Elizabeth...that sounds like a great idea. I may do the same myself. Just post it when you get a chance. Glad to have you sign up. Can't wait to see your list too! :-)

Okay, here's my list - I put 10 on here, which I have every intention of reading, but this way if something doesn't work out I have some alternates. =)

1 - How I Live Now by Meg Rosof - recommended by Megan of Leafing Through Life
2 - Repossessed by A.M. Jenkins - recommended by Andi of Tripping Toward Lucidity
3 - Devil's Brood by Sharon Kay Penman - recommended by Carey of The Tome Traveller
(in the spirit of full disclosure, I was going to read this book anyway, but since I found a
glowing recommendation for it, now I'm adding it to this challenge!)
4 - Eon: Dragoneye Reborn by Alison Goodman - recommended by Alyce of At Home with Books
5 - Matrimony by Joshua Henken - recommended by practically all of the book blogging world
6 - Dakota by Kathleen Norris - recommended by Word Lily
7 - The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff - recommended by Stephanie of Open Mind, Insert Book
8 - Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips - recommended by Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit
9 - The Almost Archer Sisters by Lisa Gabriele - recommended by Luanne of A Bookworm's
10 - Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford - recommended by Marcia of The
Printed Page

Sounds like a great challenge!
I'm still having a hard time making up my mind which 5 books to choose, so I hope it's okay I have a long list for now. My post can be found here.

I can't help myself. Another challenge I can't turn down! I will have trouble narrowing down the list of books as well...

Hi Rebecca, Glad to have you take up the challenge. Let us know what books you selected. If you can by the end of January that would be great. Keep a reserve couple as back up on your list if you want. Welcome! Wisteria

Here is my list for the challenge, Wisteria, and my challenge post. I may add a couple more, but these are pretty definite.

Hi Rebecca, I haven't visited your link yet but thanks for joining the challenge. I can't seem to find Mr. Linky. Did you link up with him? I must be crazy, because I don't see it.

I have posted my first review for the challenge! It is on Life of Pi.

I blogged about it in January but never a specific post just for this. Did I actually sign up? I can't find Mr. Linky.
