Thursday Thoughts....

Something to Think About Thursday

Hi friends, I feel like I have been way out of touch. I hope to get back to blogging more regularly real soon. Honestly, I have just stepped in hornets nest of issues that have sidelined me from posting my daily blog. Without getting into details, I can say for certain, I had my hands full. I didn't have the mental or physical capability to do what I love best, and that is read and write.

That said, My question to you is this,

What would you do if you were suddenly unable to read? This includes books on tape. What would you do if you fell asleep every time someone read to you. What would you do if you fell asleep every time you began to read a book?

What would you do? How would you handle this? I am curious!! Please leave me a comment and share your thoughts. I would love to know.

I just don't know what I would do but I would definitely act. Perhaps take a lot of cafe or stimulant to keep me awake. I do this since I don't get enough time during the day to read.

I would cry....then I would probably try to find out why it was happening.

I'll take walks in the park, whip out my camera and start shooting away. I'll go have coffee with my friends. I'll go hang out with my family. I'll also pray...

I would be very upset. If it was caused by stress, I would try to deal with what was happening. I think I would also see a doctor about it. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't read. That's such a big part of my life.

I read a book recently called Still Alice in which the character has Alzheimer's and eventually was unable to read or even watch tv and movies because she couldn't follow the story. I imagine it would have been the same with audio books. It made me so terribly sad to think about what a loss that would be.

In answer to your questions, falling asleep while reading or while someone is reading to me happens to me all the time, especially if I am really tired. If I was concerned it was a medical problem, of course I would seek out medical advice. In my case, it really is only a matter of being exhausted and needing the sleep--or it could be that the book isn't holding my attention the way I want it to. It may be that I need a break from reading for awhile. I would focus on other interests that I've neglected because of my reading.

If it was a temporary loss of interest or ability, it wouldn't bother me so much. If it was permanent, like it was for Alice in my book, then it would be a much more profound loss and I would probably grieve that loss.

Hi Wisteria :) Hope all is well.

oh my gosh, if I couldnt read anymore i'd be heartbroken. I guess i'd have to crochet more, talk more walks, do more outside activities.
